Apple might finally be ready to change up the iPhone in a big way. The company hasn’t jumped into the foldable phone trend yet. However, there are now reports that this could happen soon.

Rumours out of South Korea claim that the foldable iPhone could arrive at the end of next year. After this, the company will launch two bold designs in 2027 and 2028. This sounds more like a wild guess than an actual rumour.
Apple’s First Foldable iPhone
Leaks suggest Apple’s first foldable phone may be called the iPhone Fold. It will open like a book and use a flexible LTPO+ OLED display. The screen size is expected to be similar to an iPad mini. This should give it more room than a regular iPhone without being too big to carry around.
The phone might also come with a glass middle frame, which helps keep the screen smooth and reduces the wrinkle effect that’s common with foldable devices. If that’s true, Apple would be stepping straight into competition with phones like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold.
The 2027 Bezel-Free iPhone
The next year could bring something even more striking, a bezel-less iPhone. This version is rumoured to have a four-edge bending OLED screen. This means it would stretch right to the edges with no visible borders.
It could also feature something called a “Crater diffusion layer,” which is meant to even out the brightness across the display. This model will reportedly be released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027.
Apple is also said to be working on Face ID built under the screen, so the sensors would be hidden, giving the front a clean, uninterrupted look.
Apple’s First Flip Phone
Then in 2028, Apple might release a clamshell-style iPhone, which people are already calling the iPhone Flip. This device is rumoured to be a light and compact device with curved edges.

It is also expected to come with an outer display for time and notifications. It could also handle quick AI-powered actions, so you wouldn’t always need to open the phone.
Take It with Caution
As exciting as this all sounds, these are still just rumours. Apple hasn’t said a word about any of these designs. The company is known for testing new ideas behind closed doors for years before bringing them to life.
Still, if the reports are even partly true, the next few years could mark the biggest change in iPhone history. For now, all you can do is wait and see if Apple really plans to unfold its future.
