According to the staff, users will not receive this update at the same time. Those who are yet to get the update need to be patient. A wider release of this update will follow soon.

New tools in version 8.0.12.32

According to IT Home, the HarmonyOS edition of WeChat recently began an invitation-only update to version 8.0.12.32 (8391712) through the Huawei App Gallery. This test version adds the ability to extract text from images and perform full-text page translation.

The test run began on October 29, 2025, and will continue until November 28, 2025, during which users who receive SMS invites can join the program.

Beta access and rollout

The new tools aim to give users a faster way to copy, share, and edit text from saved images or chat shots. The add-on is built to help both work and daily chat flow, letting users pull data from notes, bills, or sites with ease. This kind of use can save time and make the app smarter.

The code for this update is designed to fit the entire HarmonyOS build, using local speed gains for quick scan and read. The app will also test link sync and page words for live read, in line with Huawei’s push for AI text tools. The test plan marks one of the largest-scale WeChat tests for HarmonyOS so far.

Wider public release expected soon

Users who want to try the latest version can open the IT Home WeChat account and reply with “WeChat” to get the link for the newest internal beta build. Full rollout of the new app is set to start once test data shows smooth work and no bugs.

WeChat said that its goal is to give all HarmonyOS users a tool-rich chat app that uses AI in a smart yet light way. The smooth pace of this trial shows that both firms, Huawei and Tencent, are still firm on their joint plan to boost the app’s role in the HarmonyOS world.
