Apple took the wraps off its iPad Pro (2025) with the Apple M5 earlier this month. Shortly after its release, the device went through iFixit’s disassembly treatment to check its repairability score. Through a deep look, the folks at the professional website evaluated how hard it can be to fix this device.
The 13-inch iPad Pro (2025) is Hard To Repair Due to its insane 5.1mm Thickness
The iPad Pro (2025) that went through the tests was the 13-inch model with just 5.1mm thickness. Interestingly, the thickness itself is what repairs hard. Every component in this device is insanely tightly packed, with the screen mounted flush against the internals. And guess how we can access the components? Through the screen.
Taking the screen off without cracking it isn’t easy to do. Apple is providing repair manuals and parts, once you get the screen out, the things become easier.
To remove the battery, there are ten pull tabs to be pulled. The USB-C port is easily accessible and removable. The logic board, on the other hand, needs a lot more screws to be removed. Most of the screws inside the iPad Pro (2025) are of the JIS Type.
The Device Scores 5 According to iFixit
In the end, the 13-inch iPad Pro (2025) gets a 5 out of 10 repairability score, where 0 is the worst and 10 would be the best. The main issue here is that the battery is only accessible after removing the screen. This is a component that might need repair over the years, and if you don’t take enough care, you can damage the screen. Once you’ve removed the screen, however, things get easier.
