China’s Sept manufacturing PMI returns to expansion
China’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for the domestic manufacturing industry resumed expanding this month after contracting during the prior two months, with the PMI reading edging up by 0.7 percentage point from August, just enough to push it above the threshold of 50 connoting expansion, the latest release by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on September 30 showed. The PMI reading for September was 50.1, Mysteel Global notes.
China Sept steel PMI up to 46.6 on better demand
China’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for its steel industry had increased for the second month in September, up by 0.5 percentage point on month to reach 46.6, as domestic steel demand recovered moderately and steel production also increased slightly, the official index compiler – CFLP Steel Logistics Professional Committee (CSLPC) – noted in the latest release on September 30.
China’s graphite electrode prices firm in quiet market
Chinese domestic prices for ultra-high-power (UHP) grade graphite electrodes and small-sized graphite electrodes have remained unchanged for the past few weeks, as purchases from electric-arc-furnace (EAF) makers have slowed, despite the mills’ increasing output, Mysteel’s latest survey has found.
China’s excavator sales rise 5.5% YoY in Sept
Chinese excavator sales to both domestic and overseas customers during September increased by 5.5% on year to 21,187 units, according to the latest data from the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA). Total sales were also higher by 17.2% on month.
