At Intersolar Europe 2023, being held in Germany’s Munich, an international panel of judges picked Huawei Technologies, Aiko Solar and Wavelabs for the Intersolar Award 2023; Aiko Solar and Memodo entered more than 1.3 GW solar module distribution agreement for Europe; Canadian Solar is exhibiting its EP Cube energy storage solution for the German audience; Astronergy’s cooperation with TUV Rheinland for Zero Carbon Factory.

Intersolar Award 2023: This year’s Intersolar started with the much-awaited annual Intersolar Award 2023 which was given to Huawei Technologies, Shenzhen Aiko Digital Energy Technology and Wavelabs Solar Metrology Systems. Adjudged by an international panel of judges, Huawei was selected for the award for its SUN2000-330KTL string inverter for large scale PV installations. The company claims this transformerless inverter offers a very high performance of 330 kW and a European efficiency rating of 98.8%. The panel decided that this smart and flexible inverter combines technologies based on artificial intelligence with modern, high-performance electronics at a comparatively low price.

Aiko Solar of China was selected for its all back contact (ABC) modules that reach a capacity of 610W at 23.6% efficiency, significantly higher than other modules in the market. According to the panel, Aiko Solar metalizes its ABC modules without using silver and hence making it more environment friendly. While Aiko Solar remains on top of TaiyangNews Top Solar Modules Listing with 23.6% efficiency product, the company recently secured a TÜV SÜD certification for a record 24% efficiency for ABC modules.

Wavelabs of Germany made the cut for its SINUS-360 ADVANCED LED-based light simulator that the company claims enables the accurate and ultra-fast characterization of PV cells in manufacturing, research and testing. It can analyze high efficiency cells including heterojunction (HJT), TOPCon and perovskite-tandem solar cells, according to the company. The panel selected Wavelabs for its product having LEDs as its light source, its real-time light spectrum monitoring and value creation across the entire supply chain.

EP Cube from Canadian Solar: Canada headquartered solar manuacturer Canadian Solar Inc is exhibiting its all-in-one energy storage solution for residential applications at the Intersolar this year. Called EP Cube, it is now presenting the solution for the German market to cater to the residential segment where demand for solar PV systems and battery storage solutions is on the rise. The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) storage solution is 24cm in thickness and weighs 35kg per battery module. It offers capacity range of 6.6 kWh to 19.9 kWh. Canadian Solar says the EP Cube is compatible with most current PV systems, microinverters and EV charges. Its installation is quick and safe with EP Cube 2.0 bracket. It can be seamlessly installed with a mobile phone app.

Zero-Carbon Factory: Chinese solar PV company Astronergy has entered into a cooperation agreement with Germany’s TÜV Rheinland to make its factories zero-carbon certified. By 2023-end, Astronergy plans all its 3 fabs to have a zero carbon factory certification. It will also aim to complete the upgradation and certification of 8 zero-carbon factories by 2030. The Chinese company said its Yancheng Manufacturing Base in China will achieve this certification by H1/2023-end to become the world’s 1st TÜV Rheinland certified zero-carbon factory. This cooperation will also help establish industry standards for zero-carbon factories and best practices for carbon neutrality. They signed the agreement at the Intersolar.
