JinkoSolar grants TOPCon patent rights to a Top 10 global solar module company; JA Solar launches n-type offshore PV modules; Autowell’s contract with Trina Solar; EGing PV’s TOPCon cell fab online; Suntech’s modules for agri-PV project; more from China Datang & China Huaneng.
JinkoSolar facilitates industry collaboration by licensing n-Type TOPCon patents: JinkoSolar has announced that its affiliated company has granted rights to certain n-type TOPCon-related patents to a top 10 global solar module company. This allows the licensee to use JinkoSolar’s patented TOPCon technologies in its relevant products. With 330 granted TOPCon patents, JinkoSolar terms this strategic move a win-win for both the parties. The company will get a reasonable license fee for the transaction, while strengthening the positions of both companies in the market. The company says that this intellectual property transaction aligns with common practices in high-tech industries like semiconductors and telecommunications, fostering innovation, collaboration, and avoiding legal disputes.
At the recent TaiyangNews High Efficiency Solar Technologies Conference, JinkoSolar’s Deputy General Manager of R&D Oscar Zhang talked about achieving record cell efficiencies with TOPCon (see TOPCon: TaiyangNews High Efficiency Solar Technologies Conference Day 1).
JA Solar launches n-type offshore PV modules: Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer JA Solar has announced the launch of 2 offshore photovoltaic (PV) n-type product solutions, DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series and Yaolan series. The company promotes these 2 modules as suitable for pile-based installations and offshore floating installations, respectively. The 2 module variants feature 635 W of power and 22.8% module efficiency. The company says that the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules also feature advantages like “anti-salt spray, anti-ultraviolet, anti-humidity and anti-hot spots.”
In December 2023, JA Solar announced that it signed a contract with POWERCHINA for the 2nd batch of centralized procurement in Q3 2023 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Autowell signs RMB 210m contract with Trina Solar: Automation equipment manufacturer Autowell announced that it has signed a purchase contract with Trina Solar and its wholly-owned subsidiary. As per the RMB 210 million ($29.41 million) contract, the latter will procure integrated solar module cutting & soldering equipment. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2024.
EGing PV Anhui Chuzhou high-efficiency n-type TOPCon PV cell fab online: EGing PV has announced that it has brought its Chuzhou cell manufacturing plant online. The plant has an annual capacity of 10 GW high-efficiency n-type TOPCon photovoltaic cells. The company said that the first batch of 5 GW has been installed and debugged on site, while the 5 GW batch has been installed at 30%-40% and approximately 1 GW debugged. The current commissioned production capacity of the facility is about 6 GW.
Suntech’s PV modules for Shandong Yishui agri-PV project: POWERCHINA’s 70 MW 1st phase of its 200 MW agri-PV project in Huangshanpu Town, Yishui has achieved one-time full-capacity grid-connected power generation. The project uses Suntech’s 670 W Ultra X single-glass and 550 W Ultra V double-glass high-efficiency modules. The project adopts an agro-photovoltaic complementary method that combines high-efficiency PV modules with agricultural mushroom cultivation. Once operational, the project is expected to generate an average of 86.368 million kWh of green electricity per year, saving 31,092.48 tons of standard coal and reducing CO2 emissions by 81,462.9 tons per year.
China Datang’s Xinghai Base 500 MW PV online: China Datang has announced that its 500 MW PV project at the Xinghai Base is now operational. This is the company’s largest single PV power station, which is part of the 1st batch of key large-scale wind power and PV base construction projects. Once fully operational, the project is said to be able to provide the Qinghai Power Grid with about 1 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, saving 328,700 tons of standard coal and reducing about 988,700 tons of CO2 every year.
China Huaneng’s MW-scale perovskite PV power station starts operations: The Huaneng Qinghai Gonghe Photovoltaic Power Station has been put into production. The project, led by China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., is labeled the world’s largest commercial-sized MW-scale perovskite module PV demonstration project.
