EE sells 350 MW Texas project: Danish renewables company European Energy subsidiary EE North America is selling its 350 MW utility scale solar project in Texas to Osaka Gas USA Corporation for an undisclosed amount. The company said this sale is part of its long-term growth strategy. It is scheduled to come online in 2025. EE North America was launched in October 2022 to develop 10 GW renewables capacity in the US by 2026.
Solarcycle gets AES order: The AES Corporation has entered a recycling services agreement with US start-up Solarcycle. Under a pilot program launched, AES will assess construction breakage and end-of-life solar panel waste across its portfolio. It will then send damaged or retired solar panels to Solarcycle’s facility in Odessa, Texas to be recycled and repurposed. Solarcycle had transported decommissioned panels from an AES facility in Arizona to its fab under phase I of the initiative. Solarcycle says its facility is on track to process 1 million panels by Q4/2023. The company recently won a $1.5 million research grant from the US Department of Energy to develop a mechanical method to concentrate the materials and a environment friendly chemical process to recover them.
Matrix completes Texas solar & storage project: Matrix Renewables has completed the construction and financing of its 143 MW DC solar and 80 MWh energy storage Gaskell West 2 and 3 projects in California’s Kern County. It is the Spanish company’s 1st US project and is fully contracted under 5 long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) with utilities and cities in California.
