Xiaomi Pad 7s Pro Nears Launch With Custom Chip and 120W Charging

Xiaomi’s next big tablet, the Pad 7S Pro, is almost here. At least, that’s what recent Bluetooth SIG certification listings suggest. The device, along with a few others—like the Xiaomi Watch S4 41mm and a new “Fashion Imaging Kit” for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra—was just approved. And when a device hits that registry, launch usually follows soon after. In this case, maybe even within weeks.

A Familiar Screen, New Internals

At first glance, the Pad 7S Pro sounds like an incremental update. It sports a 12.5-inch LCD panel, slightly larger than the typical tablet screen but still more affordable than AMOLED. That alone hints at its positioning: high-end, but not ultra-premium. Not quite in direct competition with the iPad Pro, but a step up from entry-level Android tablets.

But it’s the inside that could get more interesting. Leaks suggest the tablet might ship with Xiaomi’s custom Xring O1 chip—yes, the same one used in the recently launched Xiaomi 15s Pro and Pad 7 Ultra. That would be a significant shift. The previous model ran on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, one of Qualcomm’s flagship processors. Swapping it out for an in-house chip? That’s a risk. Then again, it might be a calculated one.

Performance on smartphones using the Xring O1 has been mixed—some heat throttling here, a little modem inefficiency there—but a tablet, with more room to dissipate heat, might be a better home for it. If Xiaomi can smooth out those rough edges, the chip could finally deliver on its promise of tight integration with HyperOS and potentially better long-term support.

Fast Charging and Faster Expectations

Another headline feature: 120W wired charging. That’s fast. Faster than most laptops, actually. Real-world impact? Maybe not huge—you’re still charging a big battery—but for users short on time, it’s one more reason to consider the upgrade.

The timing makes sense, too. June’s a strategic window: just ahead of new Apple and Samsung announcements. If Xiaomi nails pricing and manages to position the Pad 7S Pro as a capable, value-packed workhorse, it could quietly steal some attention.

But that’s a big “if.” We’ll see how it lands—if and when it officially arrives.
