Apple is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of the iPhone 16 series, set to take place in less than a month. With expectations running high, the company is preparing for a significant boost in sales this year. In response, Foxconn, Apple’s primary manufacturer, has ramped up its production capabilities to meet the anticipated demand.
APPLE RAMPS UP PRODUCTION FOR ANTICIPATED IPHONE 16 LAUNCH
Recent reports indicate that Foxconn has started mass production of the iPhone 16, with Samsung and LG supplying the screens. To support this increased production, Foxconn has hired 50,000 additional workers at its Zhengzhou factory. It’s the largest iPhone production facility in the world. These new hires were recruited through social media and job sites, offering an hourly wage of 25 yuan, or approximately $3.52.
The decision to expand the workforce stems from Apple‘s expectation that iPhone 16 sales will exceed those of its predecessor by 10%. Apple projects to sell 90 million units of the iPhone 16 in the second half of 2024, driven by new features and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).
One of the key drivers behind the expected sales increase is the introduction of Apple Intelligence. A suite of AI features that will be available across the entire iPhone 16 lineup. Previously, these AI capabilities were limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, which required 8GB of RAM. However, with the iPhone 16 series, all models will have access to these advanced features. Broadening their appeal to a wider audience.

So, as the launch date approaches, anticipation for the 16 series continues to grow. With many eager to see how these enhancements will translate into user experience. Apple‘s strategic moves, including Foxconn’s workforce expansion, underscore the company’s confidence in the success of its latest smartphone lineup.
