1. The overall import and export situation
Earthmoving machinery has the functions of breaking the plow layer, restoring the soil tillage layer structure, improving soil water storage and moisture retention capacity, eliminating some weeds, reducing pest damage, leveling the ground surface, and improving the standard of agricultural mechanized operations.
China is a major manufacturing country. In recent years, the export quantity of grading machinery from China has been continuously increasing, from 643,000 units in 2018 to 1.57 million units in 2021. The export value also increased from 83.245 million USD in 2018 to 128.256 million USD in 2021. On the other hand, the import quantity and value showed a decreasing trend. From January to October 2022, the export quantity of grading machinery from China was 631,000 units, with an export value of 95.693 million USD. The import quantity was 600 units with an import value of 3.571 million USD.
2. Breakdown of import and export
In terms of export quantity, China’s grading machinery exports are mainly composed of other types of grading machinery. From January to October 2022, the export quantity of road rollers from China was 117,000 units, with an export value of 3.673 million USD. Meanwhile, the export quantity of other types of grading machinery was 514,000 units, which was 397,000 units higher than the export quantity of road rollers. The export value of other types of grading machinery was 92.02 million USD, which was much higher than the export value of road rollers.
From January to October 2022, China imported only 7 road rollers, with an import value of 13,000 USD. Meanwhile, the import quantity of other types of grading machinery was 596 units, which was 589 units higher than the import quantity of road rollers. The import value of other types of grading machinery was 3.558 million USD, which was much higher than the import value of road rollers.
In terms of average import and export unit prices, the average import unit price of China’s grading machinery is much higher than the average export unit price. From January to October 2022, the average export unit price of China’s grading machinery was 151.7 USD per unit, while the average import unit price was 5,951.7 USD per unit, which is much higher than its export price.
3. Analysis of import and export patterns
From January to October 2022, the top five regions for China’s grading machinery exports by value were the United States, South Korea, Germany, the Russian Federation, and the Netherlands, with export values of 21.677 million USD, 21.089 million USD, 5.937 million USD, 5.925 million USD, and $4.713 million USD, respectively.
Shandong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu are major provinces in China for exporting grading machinery. From January to October 2022, Shandong Province had the highest export value of grading machinery in the country, with an export value of 41.591 million USD, while Zhejiang Province ranked second with an export value of 21.619 million USD. These two provinces are the main exporting regions for grading machinery in China.
In terms of import value, the Netherlands is the largest importer of grading machinery to China. From January to October 2022, China imported grading machinery worth 1.201 million USD from the Netherlands, accounting for 34% of the total import value.
