The long-awaited Apple event is finally here. Apple has just announced its latest products at the “Awe Dropping” event on the 9th of September. Just like previous events, Apple announced a couple of products, ranging from AirPods, Apple Watches, and the iPhone 17 lineup. Before today’s event, several rumors suggested that the 2025 event would feature 4 different iPhone models, unlike the 3 models the company usually launches each year. In addition to the iPhone 17 series, widespread rumors suggested a new model, the iPhone 17 Air. The new model, however, turned out to be the iPhone Air.
This year’s announcement saw a 4th addition to the iPhone lineup. Apple decided to call this new member the iPhone Air, which makes sense since it’s the first of its kind.
iPhone Air is Apple’s Thinnest Smartphone
Just like its name suggests, the iPhone Air comes as a very thin smartphone. According to Apple, the iPhone Air is the thinnest smartphone the company has ever produced. Even though the company didn’t reveal further details regarding its thickness, this could easily be true, judging from the videos and pictures revealed by the company at the launch event.

It is worth noting that the iPhone Air is well built, not just to be thin, but also very strong. The company says the iPhone Air was built using 80% recycled titanium, the most in any iPhone ever made. This, according to the company, makes the iPhone Air the strongest iPhone ever.
Display and Design
The iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch LTPO Super Retina OLED display with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with Apple’s new Ceramic Shield 2 protection and delivers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, making it brighter and more durable than its predecessor.

Camera
Apple made some compromises to achieve the ultra-slim design. On the back, there is a single 48MP wide camera, while the front houses an 18MP camera with Center Stage support for video calls.
Performance and Connectivity
The device is powered by the new A19 Pro chip, which comes with a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU. Apple claims the chip brings MacBook Pro-level performance to a slim iPhone form factor.

It also debuts the Apple N1 chip for wireless connectivity, supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. For mobile data, Apple includes the new C1X modem, which is twice as fast as the C1 modem and 30% more power efficient compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X71 modem found in the iPhone 16 Pro.

Battery and Charging
Although Apple didn’t disclose the exact battery size, the company promises “all-day battery life”. To extend usage, Apple is introducing an optional low-profile MagSafe battery pack priced at $99, which boosts video playback time to 40 hours. We already saw this battery in leaks, and we believe it’s tiny. However, only time will tell if optimization played a big role in making it a full-day smartphone.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone Air will be available in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. Prices start at $999 for the 256GB storage variant. Pre-orders open on September 12 in 63 first-wave countries, including the US, UK, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, and Australia, with deliveries beginning on September 19. An additional 22 countries will get the device starting September 26.
