The OnePlus 13 has been in the spotlight for months, thanks to numerous leaks and rumors. Now, some official details have finally emerged. Louis Lee, the President of OnePlus China, recently shared the first glimpse of the OnePlus 13 on Weibo. The image shows just the front of the phone, specifically the display panel, which features a small punch-hole cutout centered at the top. While the bezels seem to be quite slim, it’s difficult to make a full assessment as the device shown isn’t fully assembled.
The OnePlus 13 will debut with BOE’s second-generation Oriental Screen, a significant upgrade from the display featured in its predecessor, the OnePlus 12. The first-gen Oriental Screen on the OnePlus 12 offered impressive specs, including a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, a 3168x1440p resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a pixel density of 510 PPI. While details on the second-gen screen are yet to be fully revealed, it’s expected to build on these already impressive specifications, further enhancing the display experience on the OnePlus 13.
OnePlus 13 Alleged Specifications
Li Jie, the President of OnePlus, has claimed that the OnePlus 13’s second-generation Oriental screen will deliver performance that is “far ahead of others.” Although he didn’t provide many specific details, this statement hints at a significant upgrade over the already remarkable display on the OnePlus 12. What exactly makes it superior remains unknown for now, but expectations are high for this new screen technology.
In addition to the screen improvements, a recent leak revealed the back design of the OnePlus 13, which shows a distinct camera area. This design marks a change from the OnePlus 12’s camera module. It blended seamlessly into the phone’s edge, suggesting that the OnePlus 13 will have a more defined camera housing.
As for its specifications, the OnePlus 13 is expected to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, paired with a hefty 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Powering the device will be a large 6,000mAh battery, supporting 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. On the display front, it will likely come equipped with BOE’s second-generation Oriental Screen. Sadly, the exact details about the new screen’s performance are still under wraps.
Stellar performance with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
The OnePlus 13 should bring notable performance thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The new chipset will have a “supercharged” Oryon CPU as Qualcomm leaves ARM for its proprietary architecture. It will have an improved NPU (Neural Processing Unit). The Oryon Cores appeared on the Snapdragon X Elite a laptop Chipset. So, theoretically, it’s impressive to think of a mobile version of this SoC. The leaks suggest the SoC will be clocked at up to 4.0 GHz. Other rumors point to it going beyond up to 4.3 GHz. It will allow smartphones with it to achieve a single score of around 3,500 on Geekbench. In terms of performance, the OnePlus 13 will be miles ahead of its predecessor.

The camera setup will include a 32-megapixel front camera. The back will house a triple camera system: a 50-megapixel LYT-808 sensor with OIS. It will also include a 50-megapixel LYT-600 ultra-wide lens. Finally, we will have another 50-megapixel LYT-600 lens with a 3x periscope zoom. Other notable features of the OnePlus 13 include an IP69-rated body, a metallic frame, an alert slider, and a 0916 Turbo haptic motor, making it a solid contender in the flagship smartphone market.
The phone is expected for late October
According to the reports, the OnePlus 13 should see its unveiling in late October. The smartphone should come with the first wave of flagships sporting the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Of course, it will be released first in China. A global release could take place only in the next year. This is just speculation and is subject to changes. Just like its predecessor, the OnePlus 13 should be the company’s only smartphone for the flagship market. We won’t see a Pro variant coming along it.
We expect more details to emerge soon. OnePlus will likely begin a teaser campaign for its upcoming device.
