OnePlus and OPPO May Replace Alert Slider with a Remappable Action Button
Tipster Digital Chat Station claims OnePlus and OPPO plan to swap the classic slider for a press-type button. This change seems to be inspired by Apple’s Action Button. The Action Button first appeared in the iPhone 15 Pro models, replacing the old ring-silent switch.
Apple’s button lets users customize its function. It can toggle silent mode, enable Do Not Disturb, launch the camera, turn on the flashlight, activate Shazam, and more. If OnePlus follows this idea, its new button could offer similar customization. This would make it more useful than a fixed three-stage slider.
Not the First Time OnePlus Made Changes
This is not the first time OnePlus has removed the Alert Slider. The OnePlus 10T skipped it due to engineering decisions. The company said this allowed them to improve charging speed, increase battery size, and enhance antenna performance.
OnePlus has also changed the slider’s placement before. The OnePlus 12 moved it from the right to the left side. Fans have already adjusted to such tweaks, so this new change might not be too surprising.

Not all OnePlus and OPPO devices will lose the slider. Reports say the OnePlus Open 2 and the OPPO Find N5 will keep it. So, fans of the classic design still have options.
