A recent report from GalaxyClub reveals that Samsung is preparing two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, as hinted by different code names. The models are labelled Q7 and Q7M, suggesting new developments for the foldable series. Though the Galaxy Z Fold 6 only hit the shelves a few months ago, Samsung seems ready to expand its foldable lineup for 2025.
What Do the Codenames Mean?
The standard version of the Fold 7 is known as Q7, while the other model bears the code Q7M. Samsung also has a regular Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the pipeline, known internally as B7. The “M” in Q7M is still a mystery, and no model number has been shared yet.
Some rumours hint that the Q7M might be a tri-fold device with two hinges and three screens. If true, this model could offer an entirely new foldable design. However, it is also possible that the tri-fold concept is being developed under a different code.
Both Q7 and Q7M seem to be in parallel development, meaning Samsung is unlikely to release these foldables early in 2025. The first part of the year will focus on more traditional smartphones like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A56. This suggests the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 series will arrive in the summer of 2025.
In 2024, Samsung launched a special edition of the Fold, known as the Fold SE, exclusive to South Korea and China. This version of the Fold 6 is larger, thinner, and has a 200-megapixel camera. However, it does not support the S Pen, which was available with other Fold models.
The global availability of the Q7M model remains unclear. It is uncertain whether Samsung will release the Q7M beyond South Korea or if it will remain a region-specific device, much like the Fold SE.
