Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy A36, a follow-up to the A35 which came out this March. The upcoming phone will bring a few key upgrades, mainly in the camera department, according to recent leaks.
Camera upgrade
One of the big changes in the Galaxy A36 is the front camera. While the A35 had a 13 MP selfie camera, the A36 will feature a 12 MP sensor instead. This may seem like a step back in terms of megapixels, but it promises improved quality for selfies. The same upgrade will also be seen in the Galaxy A56. Though both phones will feature 12 MP front cameras, the A56 should offer even better selfie results.
The rear camera on the Galaxy A36 will continue to have the same 50 MP sensor as its predecessor, the A35. Samsung appears to be sticking with the same main camera hardware for now. However, there’s no word yet on whether Samsung will tweak other cameras, like the ultrawide or macro lenses, but it seems unlikely. Samsung’s A series often gets minor changes from model to model, so the focus will likely remain on the front camera upgrade.
According to a benchmark run, the Galaxy A36 will run on either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip. This processor will be paired with 6GB of RAM, ensuring smooth performance. Users can expect decent speed and multitasking capabilities, which is consistent with the A series’ aim of providing mid-range devices with solid specs.
Samsung Galaxy A36 to arrive next year
The Galaxy A36 will come with Android 15 right out of the box when it launches in March next year. This will give users access to the latest features and updates from Google’s Android ecosystem. The phone will also likely receive regular updates for a few years, keeping it relevant and secure for users.
While the Galaxy A36 doesn’t stray too far from its predecessor, the upgraded 12 MP selfie camera and the choice of Snapdragon chip will offer a slight improvement over the A35. With its expected launch in March 2025, it looks to continue Samsung’s trend of releasing budget-friendly phones with solid specs and minor refinements.
