In recent years, we saw the rise of a trend among those who like screen protectors – the privacy screen protectors. These basically limit the viewing angles of the phone’s screen so you can see it head-on. However, people who try to peek at your screen won’t see anything. Now, Samsung seems to have figured out how to make this feature native in smartphones. Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will have this feature natively.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra To Come With Native Privacy Display
The feature was first found in the One UI 8.5 code. It is called Privacy Display. It makes parts of the screen harder to see if you do not have the right screen cover. The good part is you can turn it on or off whenever you want.
Now, X user Ach shared screenshots that show how Samsung is planning this feature. There is an Auto Privacy toggle in the settings that enables Privacy Display in crowded public places, including elevators and public transportation. Alternatively, users c an set a schedule to enable or disable the feature. It will also be possible to determine which apps will have the Privacy Display. This should be one of the new features coming with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The feature does not hide the whole screen. It only hides parts of it. For example, it can block a pop-up message or a small video window. You can also lock pictures in the gallery. This is useful if they have private details. You can mark those pictures as protected. Screen lock settings can be protected too.
Granular Privacy Settings Will Be Available
There is even a final step dubbed “Maximum Privacy”. It reduces the screen brightness when Privacy Display is on. The goal is to make things even harder to see for people around you.
The feature comes with One UI 8.5, but it needs special hardware to work. Ach says it will show up on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Older phones will not get it, even if they update to version 8.5. Samsung usually keeps the best features for the Ultra phones, so we should not expect this on the other S26 models.
