Microsoft is preparing for its next event scheduled for May 20. The new event will be dubbed Windows on ARM and as the name suggests will disclose Microsoft’s new strategy on ARM hardware running Windows. The company is expected to reveal a new set of products with ARM-based processors developed by Qualcomm. The chipmaker will launch its latest flagship SoC dubbed Snapdragon X Plus. It is expected to power the upcoming Surface 10 Pro OLED.
SURFACE 10 PRO OLED BENCHMARKED WITH SNAPDRAGON X PLUS
The Snapdragon X Plus is part of a new lineup that will also bring a flagship SoC dubbed Snapdragon X Elite. While the latter had some details revealed, today we have the first glimpse of the former. The X Plus passed by Geekbench DirectML benchmark on a device with OEMMN codename. The name of the chipset is clear in the Geekbench listing with the “Snapdragon X Plus – X1P64100” designation.
The Snapdragon X Plus uses Qualcomm’s Oryon Cores in a 10-core arrangement. It has two clusters with 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The max clock speed is 3.42 GHz. It’s different from the Snapdragon X Elite which has a 12-core structure and a higher clock at 4.3 GHz. Another difference is that the Snapdragon X Plus has a built-in X65 modem, while the X Elite has an external one.
The Geekbench benchmark also confirms 16 GB RAM and Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview. According to the report, the model OEMMN in question is the Microsoft Surface Pro 10 OLED. Interestingly, the Surface Pro 10 was released as a 2-in-1 device with the Intel Core Ultra CPU back on March 21. However, the company plans to launch its OLED counterpart soon. It will not only bring an OLED display this time but will change the whole architecture for an ARM-based one. The new device is expected on May 20.
