Apple iPhone 16: Three Possible Design Changes We May See

Apple-iPhone-16

Apple launched the iPhone 15 series back in September of last year. As we’re slowly approaching September of this year, reports about the upcoming iPhone 16 have started to pop up. Some of them come from credible sources, while others are not so trustworthy.

Among the reports that are from credible sources are the ones that suggest a design change. Of course, this would be long overdue as Apple has stuck with a similar design with the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 15 series. But yes, it would be wrong to expect a major shift on the iPhone 16.

That said, as per the past reports, we may see three possible design changes in the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 series. They are: a new camera bump, more buttons, and a slimmer design.

NEW CAMERA BUMP ON THE IPHONE 16 AND 16 PLUS

According to MacRumors (link), a very credible source for upcoming Apple devices, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus could have a switched-up camera arrangement. According to the report, the cameras on the back could be vertically stacked. Yes, it would be similar to what Apple did with the iPhone 12.

Although, at the current stage, it’s unclear whether the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are the only ones due for the change. But another report from 91Mobiles (link) has suggested that the camera designs of the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will remain the same.

iPhone SE, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14

Looking back, Apple first changed the layout of the iPhone 13. Apple said the change was necessary to accommodate large sensors. It’s possible that the upcoming iPhone 16 series might not require the changed layout anymore. Adding more credibility to this report is the recently surfaced dummy units for the phones (image attached below). They show that regular models have vertically stacked cameras, while the Pro models have the same design.

MORE BUTTONS

According to well-known reporter Mark Gurman from Bloomberg (link), Apple is integrating a new button on non-Pro iPhone 16. Before you ask, it’s not just the Action Button that Apple introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro series. In addition to that, there will reportedly be another button for shooting videos.

We got a similar report from MacRumors (link), which states that both buttons will be capacitive. As for those unaware of the action button, Apple integrated it into the iPhone 15 Pro series last year. You can use it as a shortcut for launching the camera and perform other tasks. However, this button will likely not be exclusive to the Pro iPhone 16 phones.

THINNER BEZELS ON THE IPHONE 16

According to a reputed Korean publication called The Elec (link), display manufacturers for the Apple iPhone 16 have developed a new tech. This tech allows more compact display circuits, which reduces the bezels on the sides. Apple iPhone 15 already has reasonably thin bezels. But if this report holds true, the upcoming phones will be offering a much more immersive visual experience.

However, the report didn’t mention whether this change would only be for the Pro variants of the iPhone 16 series. So, there’s a chance that all the devices within the lineup could enjoy this display upgrade. But, yes, it’s true that Apple has been introducing new display enhancements with the Pro models first. I guess we will need to wait for more reports to get a better idea of this.
